Former FIU wide receiver Thomas Owens has made his way to the National Arena League as he looks to continue his professional football aspirations.

The Massachusetts Pirates, a professional arena football team in Worcester, announced the signing of the Boynton Beach, Fla. product on Thursday, Feb. 28 with Owens inking a deal for the 2019 campaign.

Last season, the Pirates went 11-5 record and also took a trip to the semifinals of the playoffs after the team played in its inaugural year.

As a senior at FIU, Owens hauled in 50 receptions for 887 yards and six scores which brought his career receiving touchdown total to 21.

Owens ended his final year one touchdown shy of tying former Panthers receiver Cory McKinney for second all-time in career receiving touchdown following a knee injury that cut his season short.

T.Y. Hilton is the all-time leader in the category with 24 scores.

The Atlantic Community High School graduate also concluded his career with 158 catches for 2,177 yards.

Following college, Owens accepted an invitation to the Seattle Seahawks mini-camp as an undrafted free agent.
